The Meeting of the Supreme Standing Committee for Human Rights

The SSCHR held a meeting on Monday, 20 September 2021 with the participation of representatives of its member ministries and bodies. The is the Committee’s first meeting after the launch of the National Human Rights Strategy under the auspices of the President on the 11 September and all members expressed their profound appreciation for the President’s participation in the launching ceremony of the Strategy which was prepared based on a scientific approach and is in line with the President’s commitment to enhance national efforts to advance human rights and his continuous directives to protect the dignity of the Egyptian citizen and the respect and protection of his basic rights and freedoms.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss optimal ways and means to follow-up on the implementation of the Presidential directives included in his speech during the ceremonial launch of the Strategy which reflect the firm political will to promote human rights. The meeting also considered the SSCHR methodology in following up on the implementation of the Strategy which is a new step taken by the Egyptian State towards the New Republic through the consolidation of citizens’ rights and ensuring equality among the people in rights and duties in order to achieve the objectives of Egypt's Vision 2030.

SSCHR members affirmed that, within the framework of following up on the implementation of the Strategy, further efforts will be exerted to enhance communication, coordination, consultation, and building national partnerships among all components of the human rights institutional structure including civil society which is necessary for the successful implementation of the Strategy and the establishment of an integrated framework for coordinated, collective, participatory and continuous institutional work to achieve coherence and synergy of all efforts related to the advancement of human rights.
