The National Council for Women and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), affiliated with the World Bank Group, signed an agreement.
The National Council for Women and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), affiliated with the World Bank Group, signed an agreement in the presence of the Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat. The agreement’s purpose relates to the IFC’s technical support to develop Egypt’s performance in Women, Business and Law Report, with the aim of supporting State’s efforts to achieve economic empowerment for women, including enhancing their ability to obtain funding and increase women’s contribution in achieving Egypt’s 2030 development vision.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women, Walid Labadi, Regional Director of the IFC, and Nihad Abu al-Qumsan, Chairwoman of the Egyptian Center for Women's Rights, and a candidate for membership in the National Council for Human Rights.
Based on the agreement, the National Council for Women shall work in partnership with the International Finance Corporation to foster State’s efforts towards women’s economic empowerment; enhance their participation in all activities; facilitate women entrepreneurs’ access to bank financing; create a suitable environment for women’s work; and encourage them to increase productivity and contribute with greater share in supporting Egypt’s economic growth.
