The SSCHR Technical Secretariat met virtually on 14 July 2020 with officials of the Human Rights Sector at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a view to strengthen bilateral cooperation and to learn of the Mexican experience in the establishment of the Mexican electronic platform to follow up on international and regional Human Rights recommendations (SERIDH) which was implemented in cooperation with Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Ihab Gamal El-Din, SSCHR Secretary-General , and Mr Cristopher Valdés, Director General for Human Rights and Democracy at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs in addition to 21 representatives from both sides. It witnessed a presentation of the Mexican experience in setting up the national follow-up mechanism through an electronic platform concerned with registering, classifying and following up on the implementation of international human rights recommendations. The meeting concluded that future technical meetings of both sides will be held to discuss in more detail different aspects of the electronic platform.
