About the Committee

The Supreme Standing Committee for Human Rights (SSCHR) was established by virtue of Prime Ministerial Decree No. 2396 of 2018, issued on November 14, 2018 as an important addition to the national institutional edifice that aim at enhancing human rights protection in Egypt. It reflects the strong political will to enhance the implementation of Egypt’s human rights obligations, as well as the State’s conviction that realizing human rights is the focus of its ‘Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt’s Vision 2030.
